Dear members of the Social Policy Committee,
I am writing to ask each of you to visit the blog; http://jeffreyslawnow.blogspot.com
so you may get an idea of what the general public thinks of Bill 210. We are all very apprehensive of it going through and feel we are losing the battle. If you are elected to decide what society accepts and does not, then you should be listening to what society wants, not use your own personal judgment! Society is demanding accountability from the people who determine our future generations’ fates.
The child welfare agencies need more accountability for their actions, never mind none at all! They must answer to someone and the first step is to give the Ombudsman the power to investigate them. We, as taxpayers, are paying for the 'Canadian Mafia' to do whatever they want to Ontario families and children and we refuse to let this continue! The CCAS and CAS's of Ontario should be made public agencies, accountable to us, their employers. You, as
government officials do not pay these societies, we do. All government does is dish out our hard earned money and I want a say in where it goes.
If you refuse to listen to the public, then maybe the public should stop paying their taxes. You would fine and put us in jail for not paying, yet these social workers suffer no consequences when a child dies or is tortured or starved to death as a direct result of their poor judgment or laziness.
Do any of you honestly believe that Margarita Quintana visited Jeffrey or his siblings after they were placed? Did the social worker visit Matthew Reid after he was placed or listen to the child's grandmothers complaints against the foster family? I know for a fact Mary Ann Chambers didn't.
Please do not let this bill go through. The public is demanding this of you, our elected officials. Visit the blog and pay attention to what we want, NOT what you or the children's aid societies want.
Sincerely,
Amanda Reed

Good for you Amanda. If I may offer a variation on your quote, "social workers suffer no consequences when a child dies due to their personal maliciousness, perjury and gross negligence.
My personal message to members of the Social Policy committee is that you can only be clueless or corrupt.
Isn't it time you acquainted yourselves with the horrors of CAS and did everything in your power to stop it? Not to do so makes you personally complicit in its abuse.
There's no question CAS acts in the worst interests of children or that the system causes incredible social devestation. Each of you need to publicly acknowledge the system for what it is and take meaningful steps to change it. Not to do so is a disgrace.
If you have any doubts about how CAS' ruthlessly abuses Ontarians, start by reading this blog.
Well said Amanda - the need to read this blog and STOP THE CHILD ABDUCTION SOCIETY from any more abuse!!!
How could this committee not support Ombudsman oversight as a minimum requirement of CAS accountability. What's really needed is to open every file and bring every abuse of power into the open. When that happens, there will be no other choice but to scrap these agencies.

Ms. Reed:
Thank you for your letter regarding Children's Aid and Bill 210.
I am concerned that accountability is missing in Bill 210. There are simply
too many cracks available for children to fall through. As a member of the
official opposition I will continue to pressure the McGuinty Liberal
government to reconsider this legislation in light of these serious flaws.
Sincerely,
Ted Chudleigh
MPP Halton
Ted, your words are appreciated. Please do everything possible to knock some sense into the other members of the committee. Ontario's child-welfare system is a disgrace. Any meaningful reform must focus squarely on CAS.
We need more MPPs like Mr. Chudleigh.
Remember that the Ombudsman must be given the authority and appropriate funding to oversee these agencies.
Our Ombudsman might end up like the Ombudsman in Sweden simply being the overseer of compliance to legislation.
It is good that Mr. Chudleigh responded at least but it is a bitter let down that the bill passed.

WELL SAID - but they appear to support private baby brokers, the CAS and the industry of taking children instead of seeing reality.
